The science behind FMS: How it works

Functional Magnetic Stimulation (FMS) is an advanced, safe, non-invasive, and scientifically evidence-based inductive therapy that uses high-intensity pulsed magnetic fields.

FMS PFH Img 1

1

The mechanism of action of FMS is based on the interaction between a high-intensity magnetic field and the human body.

FMS PFH Img 2

2

When an electromagnetic field is applied, it induces electric currents in conductive tissues.

FMS PFH Img 3

3

These currents modify the electrical charge of neuronal membranes , causing depolarization.

FMS PFH Img 4

4

Once the membrane voltage reaches a critical threshold, a neurophysiological reaction called an action potential is triggered , which transmits the signal along the neuron.

FMS PFH Img 5

5

The activation of motor neurons through these action potentials causes the contraction of muscle fibers, generating deep muscle contractions.

What Experts say about FMS

Nikos Mastrogiannopoulos

At Panathinaikos BC, we have high demands and the highest standards, which is why we look for the best therapeutic equipment. Thanks to the addition of FMS by Iskra Medical, we achieved faster rehabilitation in two players who suffered bone fractures during one of the seasons.

Alen Lilić

FMS is a device of unlimited possibilities for my clinic. I use it for the different types of pathologies of my patients and throughout the whole working day as I’m really satisfied with the results. What is most important, is that in my clinic patients are self paying. It has led to the fact that after every treatment I get results and the patients are satisfied.
This is the only device with which, in addition to manual therapy, I have a result after only one session. I recommend it to my colleagues and everyone else who is eager to succeed in working with patients.

Javier Guerrero

The FMS inductive technology from ISKRA MEDICAL offers a very interesting approach in a field that, until now, had not been fully developed. It combines the advantages of electrical and magnetic stimulation in a single system, opening up new therapeutic possibilities for addressing pain and function.
It also allows me to work at both central and peripheral levels, with very good results. For example, in cases of radiculopathy of central origin that causes a peripheral problem, I can apply a dual stimulus: one applicator at the central level and another at the peripheral level, thereby completing the treatment approach.

Prof. Dimitrios Lytras

The combination of FMS and exercise showed better outcomes in pain and functional capacity, as well as in MRI findings. We saw better results when FMS was applied simultaneously with manual therapy compared with manual therapy alone

Frequently Asked Questions

We'll answer your questions

How does FMS differ from other inductive systems or high-intensity magnetotherapy machines?

FMS is a multi-channel inductive system with models of 1, 2, and up to 4 independent channels. It allows simultaneous stimulation, predefined protocols, and complete parameter adjustment (1–160 Hz, up to 3 Tesla). More clinical control and greater operational capacity on a single platform.

Does it allow continuous work throughout the day?

Yes. FMS features an air-cooling system that allows for continuous use, without the need for breaks between sessions. This facilitates a seamless workflow and greater efficiency in daily care.

Is it a dependent operator?

No. FMS requires no electrodes, gels, or consumables, allowing for a one-time initial investment model and very low operating costs. Furthermore, it is easy to maintain, facilitating its integration into daily practice.

Do you need consumables or replacement parts on a regular basis?

No. FMS requires no electrodes, gels, or consumables, allowing for a one-time initial investment model and very low operating costs. Furthermore, it is easy to maintain, facilitating its integration into daily practice.

What training is included with the equipment?

It includes complete clinical training with an expert physiotherapist, business advice to integrate the equipment into your service offering, and continuous technical support.

How long does it take to recoup the investment?

It depends on the volume of patients at your clinic, but the combination of a high average ticket per session and a virtually zero operating cost allows for progressive and sustainable amortization over time.
